interrupted fern (Osmunda claytoniana; ROYAL FERN FAMILY [Osmundaceae]) Fertile pinnae ripen into dark brown "interruptions" in the middle of some of the large, sterile, otherwise green fronds.  Common on wooded edges, typically on drier sites than the previous two species.  [011]
