trillium (Trillium spp.; LILY FAMILY [Liliaceae]) Small native perennial herbs with leaves in a distinctive single whorl of 3. Flower white or occasionally pink (red in one species) large, solitary, with 3 regular parts. Widespread in woods, from upland to swamp depending on species. Flowers in late spring. Five species occur in Wisconsin. [138]
