anemone (Anemone spp.; BUTTERCUP FAMILY [Ranunculaceae])  Several species of native perennial herbs.  Small (<1”) white flowers usually with 5 petal-like sepals, numerous stamens and pistils.  Basal leaves deeply palmate, plus a whorl of smaller leaves below the flower stalk.  The various species found in habitats from moist forests to dry prairies.  [049]
