Pastinaca sativa; wild parsnip
[Apiaceae]
Tall (to 5') weedy biennial.
Flowers small, yellow, and aggregated into 4-8" wide,
flat-topped, compound umbels in mid summer.
Leaves alternate, compound, with leaflets serrate, lobed, or even
compound again. Contact with
juices from this plant in the presence of sunlight can cause a
long-lasting rash, blistering, and skin discoloration.
An invasive Eurasian native that has become well established as a
weed in sunny fields, roadsides, and waste places.
