Anemone spp.; anemone [Ranunculaceae]  Several species of native perennial herbs.  Small (to 1½") white flowers usually with 5 petal-like sepals, numerous stamens and pistils.  Basal leaves deeply palmate, plus a whorl of smaller leaves below the flower stalk.  The various species found in habitats from moist forests to dry prairies.  [051]
