Caltha palustris; marsh marigold, cowslip [Ranunculaceae]  Low growing, briefly showy, spring-flowering plant of wet places, with 5-9 bright yellow sepals and no petals.  Leaves heart shaped to round, long-stalked, and shallowly toothed.  Stem hollow.  Found in open swamps, wet meadows, and streambanks.  [050]
