Introduced
annual grasses, 1-3' tall, with narrow terminal panicles, dense and
spikelike or somewhat loose and open.
One to several bristles (setae)
are borne just below each spikelet.
Palatable and nutritious species which
form a significant part of the forage of southwestern ranges, but
generally considered weeds in Wisconsin.
