		Erect or sprawling native perennial 
		herb or shrub to 3’ tall. 
		Elongated spike-like clusters of 
		small, deep purple flowers with orange stamens in mid-summer. 
		Pinnately compound leaves with up to 
		20 pairs of small, silvery leaflets. 
		Commonly found in the southern 2/3 of 
		the state in sunny, dry-to moderate sites including prairies, meadows, 
		roadsides and the margins of farm fields.
