Tall (to 5’) native perennial.
Showy umbels of pink to red flowers, which have the distinctive
characteristics of the family:
corolla differentiated into 5 downward-directed petal-like parts
and a corona of 5 upward projections, maturing into follicles with
numerous seeds each with silky hairs.
Opposite lance-like leaves.
Moist to wet habitats in full sun.
Flowers in mid-summer.
