Myriophyllum spp.; water-milfoil [Haloragaceae]  Eight species (7 native) of perennial submersed aquatic plants.  Whorled pinnately divided leaves with thread-like leaflets.  Flower head held above water surface.  Bottom-rooted in still water to 15’ deep with stems trailing just below the surface.  M. spicatum (Eurasian water-milfoil) is an introduced species which forms dense mats of foliage displacing native aquatic plants and degrading fish habitat.  [054]
