UWSP Telephone System Information


The goal of the UWSP Telephone Support Office is to provide quality, cost-effective telephone services to faculty, staff and students on the UWSP campus, the Treehaven campus in Tomahawk, and the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station in Amherst.

UWSP has a comprehensive voice system that includes an Avaya S8810 PBX with IP telephony capabilities and an Avaya Modular Messaging voice mail system.  A Gateway off the Stevens Point switch is installed at the Treehaven campus in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.  A T1 for voice and data connects the Treehaven campus to UWSP.  There is 4-digit dialing between the two campuses.  An Avaya IP Small Office Telephone Switch with Voice Mail Pro, for 20 stations, is installed at CWES (Central Wisconsin Environmental Station).  There are approximately 2.500 staff stations, 65 Treehaven stations, along with 235 wing phones and 150 student staff stations providing emergency access in the residence hall.  A Matsch Telemanagement System includes modules for call detail collection, cellular service re-billing, electronic directory, traffic management, accounts receivable, inventory control, work order tracking, and cable management. 

These systems allow a knowledgeable and trained staff to provide cost-effective, state-of-the-art, multi-media telephone service to all UWSP clients.  The UWSP Telephone Support Office combines all telecommunications services into one charge.  Include in the charge is:  the station charge, voicemail services (automated attendants, bulletin boards, etc.), upgrade and replacement amounts, cable management, inventory, billing, campus operator services, printed directory services, personnel, equipment, supplies and capital in the chargeback.
