Architecture, Art & Design Summer Seminar

APPROXIMATE DATES
June 19- July 10, 2011

Participants will visit English art museums, archaeological sites and famous buildings from a broad range of periods. The first half of the course will be devoted to a sequence of English sites primarily from the Gothic through the Victorian period (late Medieval through 19th century), but also including the archaeological sites at Stonehenge and Bath. The second half will be based in London, exploiting a broad sampling of the myriad artistic, architectural and design opportunities there. These will include the major museums (many cultures and periods), architecture in London, visits to modern design bureau, etc. The London phase of the course will also include one or two day trips individually planned by the student.

Registration
Formal registration should be accompanied by an initial non-refundable deposit of $250. Contact International Programs for the formal registration form. The trip is limited to 28 participants, so early registration is strongly advised. These programs have a strong track record of filling up very quickly, but we do accept extra applications for the waiting list. A payment schedule will be sent for the balance of the payment. Up to ten weeks before departure, all fees except the initial deposit will be refunded on withdrawal. After that, airline cancellation charges may also be assessed.

Eligibility

This seminar is open to architecture, art, & design majors, as well as to those who share an interest in European art, culture and history.

The last day is unscheduled, so students can devote a full day to sites or museums of specific interest to them (grading day too). If we do several long, hard days as a group, we may have two unscheduled days at the end. There are zillions of cool things to do in and around London. It IS LONDON, after all... All nights at London.
Final Group Farewell Dinner on the night of day 21.
