This intensive language program requires a minimum of four college semesters of Spanish language education (completion of Spanish 212 at UWSP), a 2.50 or higher cumulative GPA, and written consent from the senior UWSP Spanish faculty (Professor Craig-Odders, Armacanqui-Tipacti or Breining).
Priority is given to regularly registered UWSP students, but students from other universities and community members are welcome to apply. All participants will be registered in a college course, for credit or audit at the same cost, and will be expected to participate fully in the academic program.
**This program does not fulfill the certificate for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction UNLESS the student meets other criteria. Contact Professor Daniel Breining for details.
The academic program of studies is arranged through the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca. Classes are taught in Spanish but “tempered” for foreign students. You will be given a placement exam upon arrival. Regardless of the results, you will receive credit for the next sequential language course in which you would have enrolled at UWSP. Instructional staff at the Instituto Cultural Oaxaca may not advise you on matters having to do with registration and credits earned. All such matters are exclusively handled by the Department of Foreign Languages at UWSP.
*Note: Students must complete the entire session in order to receive credit - no partial credit granted for early return!
Specific academic concerns should be directed to:

Approximately $5,150-5,550
Cost Includes:
Plan your budget to cover, passport, and personal expenses (especially during the weekends). Minnesota students qualify for reciprocity, substantial surcharge for other non-Wisconsin residents of approximately $750.

Chicago to Mexico City. After the entry tour a flight to Oaxaca is included. Return from Oaxaca via Mexico City to Chicago.
Up to ten weeks before the start of the program, all fees except the initial $250 deposit will be refunded. After the time, tuition, airline, tour costs, and housing charges are assessed. If the program would be cancelled, all fees will be refunded. Because exchange rates and airline prices fluctuate, International Programs reserves the right to cancel, surcharge, or to alter the program.
