Fall or Spring Semester * Pending University Approval
DATES (approximate)Fall Term: September 22- December 19, 2010 Spring Term: January 5 - June 5
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point provides extraordinary study programs to those wishing an education beyond the bounds of the classroom or campus. From 2010, UWSP students will have the option of traveling to Liverpool for their semester abroad. Liverpool Hope University is home to just over 7,500 students, and is located on two campuses: Hope Park, the main campus in South Liverpool, and Cornerstone, the Arts campus in the vibrant city center. The University has a tradition of providing higher education for over 165 years, and has grown from its' start as a teacher training college, like UWSP, to offering a wide selection of subjects. You can take most any course from their wide selection which makes it easy to stay on course to graduation. Liverpool Hope also prides itself on student support, with Dining in Nights (where all students in a residence hall eat together) every 2-3 weeks, to the wide selection of sports teams and clubs to writing labs and tutoring.
Liverpool, a port city on the Irish Sea, recently celebrated its' 800th birthday, and was named European Capital of Culture for 2008. Home to the Beatles, Liverpool offers a vibrant mix of theatres, galleries, museums, concert halls, bars, shops and restaurants in the cosmopolitan city center. The new Liverpool ONE development downtown boasts 1.6 million square feet of ultra-modern shopping and dining; for culture, Liverpool has more museums than any city outside of London, including an outpost of the world famous Tate Gallery. Sport is very important here -- the city is home to two world class football (soccer!) clubs- Liverpool and Everton FC. It's also very accessible to the rest of England and beyond: Manchester is 30 minutes away; London is only two hours by train, and most of Europe is a two hour plane ride. And, again, it’s where the BEATLES came from!

Select courses from a wide variety of subject areas while remaining enrolled as a UWSP student. You will be fully integrated into the normal semester courses at the Liverpool Hope University—but an important part of your pre-departure preparation is to work with the UWSP International Programs office to secure UWSP course and credit approvals. Courses in this program may qualify to meet major or minor degree requirements. Contact the International Programs Office to work out your course plan options.
Students select the courses from Liverpool Hope’s extensive offerings. A wide variety of subjects are available. In conjunction with UWSP International Programs, UWSP Admissions Office and the proper UWSP departments and colleges, students select classes, obtain syllabi and get the UWSP equivalencies for those courses before leaving for Britain. Students enrolled in this program will accept the responsibility of verifying that the credits earned at Liverpool Hope will be transferable (or applicable) to their major/minor at their home institution, if not UWSP. It is imperative that students know when registering in Liverpool how courses transfer back to UWSP.
