For students who want to experience life in the "the land down under" with its endless beaches, unique flora/fauna, and the rustic Outback. Known for its famous Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and Bondi Beach, Sydney is a world-class city—and an excellent base for studying Australia and the South Pacific. Your host, Macquarie University enjoys a worldwide reputation for academic excellence and diversity. Internships can be arranged and students may also participate in a certificate program in Global Leadership.

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors from all disciplines. Preference is given to upperclassmen with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Academic fit, maturity, motivation, and preparation are important. Attendance at orientation meetings is required.

Chicago to Sydney and return.
Select courses from a wide variety of subject areas while remaining enrolled as a UWSP student. You will be fully integrated into the normal semester courses at Macquarie University—but an important part of your pre-departure preparation is to work with the UWSP International Programs office to secure UWSP course and credit approvals. Courses in this program may qualify to meet major or minor degree requirements. Contact the International Programs Office to work out your course plan options.

Participants may also chose to do a for-credit internship in selected fields. These are 10-20 hours-per-week placements in areas such as public relations, film, sustainable resources, law, computing, commerce, etc.

Students studying in Sydney through UWSP should NOT register directly with Macquarie university unless and until directed to do so by the UWSP International Programs Office. None-the-less, it is VERY helpful to peruse the various Macquarie webs sites and brochures for information on Sydney and Macquarie University itself. Here is a good sampling of you:

Up to ten weeks before the start of the program, all fees except the initial $250 deposit will be refunded. After the time, tuition, airline, tour costs and housing charges are assessed. If the program would be cancelled, all fees will be refunded. Because exchange rates and airline prices fluctuate, International Programs reserves the right to cancel, surcharge, or to alter the program.
