Any faculty, staff, or student of UWSP who wishes to use animals for research and/or teaching must obtain approval from the UWSP IACUC committee and complete the training tutorial below. Animals covered under IACUC include all live vertebrates such as mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, and reptiles. All projects must be approved prior to ordering, housing, or using live animals.

The IACUC committee meets twice a year to review proposals; once in the Fall (mid October) and once in the Spring (Mid April). The chair will send an e-mail with the specific dates twice a year. All new protocol submissions receive full board review. Animal use projects beginning late in the spring semester, in the summer, or early in the following fall semester should be submitted during the spring submission deadline.
