TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS FOR VETERANS

 Use the WI National Guard Tuition Grant, if

            - you are a current member of the National Guard
           
- you have not already earned a Bachelor’s degree
           
- you are going to be a member of the Guard for the entire term
          
 - your out of pocket costs are about $850/year

            You’ll need to do the following:                   

            -complete an application within 60 days of the end of the term and leave with your school’s veteran  
             coordinator
            -earn a GPA of at least 2.0 each term
                     
-you have 8 semesters of benefits to use for undergraduate work; partime coursework will be   
                       prorated                     
                     
-your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on your application                         

Use the Wisconsin GI Bill, if you 

            -were a Wisconsin resident at the time of entry into active duty and are a resident of and living in the state at
             the time of registering at an approved institution
           
-
are no longer a member of the National Guard or have used all of your WI National Guard Tuition grant benefit
                        -the program will cover 100% of tuition costs for most programs (as of fall, 2007) only
                       
-benefits may be used for 8 semesters or 128 credits
                       
-no income limits or delimiting periods
                       
-may be available to eligible spouses and children of deceased or disabled veterans
                       
-this program will impact your financial aid package
                       
-your out of pocket costs for most programs are about $200/year

             -this benefit can only be used after Post 9/11 has been applied for unless the student has 12 months or less of
              federal entitlement remaining     

NOTICE:  The WI GI Bill does not cover all educational costs.  Check with your Veteran’s Certifying Official to determine which tuition/fees are not covered. 

Use the Army Reserve Tuition Reimbursement, if you 

-are in Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) status or eligible for Reserve Component TA in an active drilling status
-are taking courses leading to completion of a documented educational plan for one credential each at the certificate,
 associate, bachelor, or master level.
              -applications are completed at your duty station
               -tuition charges are sent to the Army from the accounts receivable office
              
-there is a ceiling of $4500 and a semester hour cap of $250, unless an exemption has been agreed
                upon   
               -
this program has been converted to an electronic process; visit GoArmyEd.com to complete the
                application

 Use the Vet Ed Reimbursement Grant, if you

            -have not already earned a Bachelors degree
           
-have applied for the WI GI Bill and been denied
                        
-this benefit is based on the length of active duty
                        
-may be used for full time or part time coursework
                        
-benefits will be reduced by any amount that was paid by other programs
                         -an online application is required within 60 days of the start of the semester
                         -the school will finalize processing of your application within 60 days of the end of the semester
                        
-your reimbursement will be mailed to your address of record by the WI VA office
