Membership of the American Philosophical Association (APA)provides opportunities to read papers at their meetings, and take part in other professional activities.
I am also a member of the Society for Philosophy in the Contemporary World, and I was responsible for organizing its group sessions at the Central Division Meetings of the APA from 2008-2010. I am presently (beginning 2010) Secretary of the Society.
