Summer studio art workshops at UWSP

Summer studio art workshops, held as part of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Camp COFAC for high school students, are also open to adult members of the community.

The camps will be held the week of June 21-27 in the Noel Fine Arts Center on the UWSP campus. Each of the workshops cost $100, with the exception of Life Drawing, which is $60. The class fees include supplies.

The offerings include:

  • Glass Fusing Slumping with Kristin Thielking
    Design and create a glass sculpture, tile, or jewelry piece using fused glass. Glass fusing is done by stacking glass pieces or beads and melting them together in a kiln. Slumping is a similar process that creates larger pieces such as bowls. Monday, June 22, 8–4 p.m.
  • Assemblage Sculpture with Bill McKee
    Take apart existing objects, furniture and electronics and use their components to create a new piece of art. Tuesday, June 2, 8–4 p.m.
  • Photography and Photoshop with Mark Pohlkamp An overview of digital photography starting with the pixel and ending with the printed image. Understand your camera functions, improve your photos, and edit your images using Photoshop. Wednesday and Thursday, June 24–25, 8–12 p.m.
  • Mixed Media Painting & Drawing with Elizabeth Wellso
    Explore various drawing media and create large scale art. Use charcoal, pastel, ink, collage, found material, and a variety of drawing tools while learning to successfully combine media and compose an image. Wednesday, June 24, 1–4 p.m., and Friday, June 26, 8–12 p.m.
  • Design and Screen Printing with Jillian Noble
    Working with a combination of traditional and digital media, explore methods for creating dynamic digital compositions that will be printed using traditional screen printing techniques. Thursday and Friday, June 25–26, 1–4 p.m.
  • Life Drawing with Camp COFAC Staff
    Improve your life drawing skills at this evening workshop with a draped model. Monday – Wednesday evenings, June 22–24, 7–9 p.m.
