Statewide each year thousands of Wisconsin K-12 teachers are required to renew their five-year teaching licenses. DPI rules dictate that in order to be eligible for renewal, a teacher must provide evidence of completion of the DPI professional growth requirement.

The UWSP School of Education and Professional Development Network, through UWSP Extension, is prepared to help License Renewal applicants by offering a number of courses that conclude prior to the June 30, 2003 deadline. Sample topics include:

The DPI professional growth requirement for licensure renewal includes the completion of at least six credits of continuing education at an accredited college or university, 180 equivalency clock hours, or a combination of the two. The credit courses can be taken at either the undergraduate or graduate level; however, the credits must be directly and substantively related to one or more of the areas of licensure held by the individual or to the individual�s professional competency.
