UWSP’s Treehaven education and research facility hosting regional research summit

A one-day regional research summit will be held at Treehaven near Tomahawk on Thursday, Feb. 7. Treehaven, a residential natural resources education and conference facility located between Rhinelander and Tomahawk, is owned and operated by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) College of Natural Resources.

The summit, organized by UW-Extension Oneida County personnel, will focus on forestry, filmed plastics and research, three industry ‘clusters’ in northern Wisconsin. Key research entities besides Treehaven in northern Wisconsin include the Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility (NADF) in Bayfield, the U.S. Forest Service Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Rhinelander, UW-Kemp Research Station in Woodruff, Frito-Lay (PepsiCo) Research Facility in Stella, the UW-Limnology Laboratory near Boulder Junction, and others.

Rebecca Ibach of the U.S. Forest Service in Madison will provide the keynote presentation. Her talk will be on the latest technology in utilizing cellulose as a raw product for plastic film production. There is no cost to participants. For more information and to register, call (715) 365-2750 or visit http://oneida.uwex.edu.
