MEDIA ADVISORY: CNR/Biology Colloquium Series - Energy and Natural Resources

"The Overlooked Downsides of Nuclear Energy for Indigenous Peoples"

Who: Al Gedicks, Professor of sociology, UW-La Crosse

What: The College of Natural Resources (CNR) and the Biology Department in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) sponsor the annual colloquium series offering the campus and community a chance to hear regional and national speakers present important natural resource issues. This series of guest lectures focuses on the growing linkage between energy and natural resources

.Gedicks will present "The Overlooked Downsides of Nuclear Energy for Indigenous Peoples." Gedicks is a renowned writer and filmmaker whose work examines the impact of resource exploitation on indigenous peoples. He has served as the director of the Center for Alternative Mining Development Policy and as the executive secretary of the Wisconsin Resources Protection Council.

UWSP Students for Sustainable Communities provides promotional support for this program.
