MEDIA ADVISORY: National gay awareness advocate to visit UWSP

What: Last April Erin Davies was victimized in Albany, New York, for displaying a "rainbow" sticker on her Volkswagen Beetle. Her car was vandalized with words filled with hate directed toward her sexual orientation.

Davies courageously chose to embrace this moment. She made a documentary film about the crime, focusing on her "Fagbug" automobile and her driving the vandalized Volkswagen as an educational campaign this past year throughout the United States and Canada. The documentary, "Fagbug: One Woman’s Drive to Raise Awareness," is scheduled to appear at various film festivals this summer and fall.

The "Fagbug" will be on display at the Raymond Specht Forum (Sundial). Davies will be on site and will also give a talk later that evening.

Davies’ visit is sponsored by UWSP’s Gay-Straight Alliance student organization. The event is free and open to the campus and community.

Where: "Fagbug" on display, 3 to 6 p.m. at the Raymond Specht Forum. Davies’ lecture, 6 p.m. in the Noel Fine Arts Center, room 221.

When: Thursday, April 10
