STEVENS POINT, WI, -- Sentry Insurance, the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point's leading corporate donor, has made its annual gift to the university. This year, the gift totaled more than $56,000.

Sentry's gift, made annually by the Sentry Insurance Foundation since 1964, is used to fund departmental programs, a distinguished professorship in the School of Business and Economics, scholarships and awards, and UWSP athletic teams.

"We are pleased to make our financial gift to UWSP each year," said Sentry Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dale Schuh. "Sentry Insurance and our employees believe in supporting education, our local university, its students and our community."

In addition to Sentry's annual gift, the company also gives thousands of dollars to the UWSP Foundation each year through Sentry's matching funds program. This year, Sentry employee donations of nearly $12,000 were matched by the company.

"We are more than grateful for Sentry's support," UWSP Chancellor Tom George said. "UWSP is committed to changing lives through quality higher education. Today, more than ever, our ability to effect this change and to remain a leading university is due to generous giving such as Sentry's."

Sentry's other annual contributions to UWSP include $14,000 for the Sentry Insurance Student Leadership Scholarship and $10,000 to fund Sentry Dependent Scholarships.

The company also contributes to the university through printing services, use of Sentry Theater, guest presenters, service on boards and committees, internships, student employment, Sentry Classic Basketball Tournament, basketball game sponsorship and donation of equipment to UWSP photography labs.
