John LaForge to speak at UWSP

The co-director of Nukewatch, a peace and environmental action group, will discuss "U.S. Dirty Bombs: �Depleted� Uranium Weapons and War Crime Prevention" at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

John LaForge�s presentation in Room 125 University Center is open to the public without charge. The event, part of the War Resisters League "Stop the Merchants of Death" campaign, is sponsored by CounterPoint, Progressive Action Organization and Peace Studies.

Nukewatch is based in Wisconsin at the Anathoth Community Farm. It advocates nonviolent civil resistance to militarism, nuclear power and weapons. LaForge is editor of its quarterly newsletter "The Pathfinder."

The recipient of the Social Courage Award from the National Association of Peace Studies Programs, LaForge has served more than four years in jail for anti-war actions.
