The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Symphony Orchestra will perform in a concert at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Wednesday, March 9.

The concert in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center will begin at 7:30 p.m. The event is part of the Music Scholarship Series. Admission is $6 for the general public, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for youth and free the day of the concert for students with UWSP IDs. Tickets are available at the UWSP Box Office, Room 103A University Center, 715-346-4100 or 800-838-3378, or at the door if the concert is not sold out in advance.

The orchestra, conducted by Patrick Miles, will perform "Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla" by Mikhail Glinka; "Danse Sacr�e for Harp and Strings" by Claude Debussy featuring UWSP senior Megan Polley of Stillwater, Minn., on harp; and "Symphony No. 5 in E minor" by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The performance will be conducted by Patrick Miles.

Miles, professor of music and director of orchestral activities, in addition to his work at UWSP is the music director for the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and the Green Bay Civic Symphony. He also appears frequently as a guest conductor for the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra. In his career he has conducted the Wausau Symphony, the Marquette Symphony, Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony, Fox Valley Symphony, Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, Corvallis Symphony Orchestra, Fort Dodge Symphony Orchestra as well as numerous collegiate ensembles.
