UWSP hosts Double Reed Day

The Department of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will host Double Reed Day on Saturday, February 11.

The event, held in the Noel Fine Arts Center, will feature a variety of activities including master classes for junior high school and high school students, reed-making workshops, performances by UWSP faculty and students, and a large ensemble performance.

The first performance of the day will be held in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center at 10 a.m. and will include the selections performed by the UWSP faculty reed trio, Trio Canna; the UWSP Bassoon Ensemble; and the UWSP Oboe Ensemble.

The second performance of the day will be held in Michelsen Hall at 4 p.m. and will feature the Double Reed Ensemble, a group made up of the day�s participants and conducted by Scott Teeple, assistant professor of music and director of bands at UWSP. Both performances will be open to the public free of charge.

Members of Trio Canna include Stacey Berk, assistant professor of music, on oboe; Andrea Splittberger-Rosen, professor of music, on clarinet; and Patricia Holland, professor of music, on bassoon. Berk is the principal oboist with the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and Holland serves as principal bassoonist with the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra.
