Coventry Jones to perform at UW-Stevens Point
Acoustic folk performer and activist Coventry Jones will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Friday, Feb. 18
Sponsored by Centertainment Productions, the event in the Encore of the University Center (UC) will begin at 8 p.m. Admission will be $4 for the general public and free with a UWSP ID.
Jones, a native of Ohio, has chosen Milwaukee as his base of operations. Formerly a member of the politically inspired musical group "Puppet Government," Jones is now working as a solo performer at a variety of clubs and festivals including a long running engagement at Summerfest.
Since 1998 he has released five recordings of acoustic material. Many of his songs find their roots in Jones interest in political and environmental activism and have often been compared to the work of Bob Dylan. His style tends to lean towards country with influences from the world of blues and folk.
In addition to his UWSP performance, Jones plans to perform at several other campuses, as well as at the "Taste of Madison" Festival at the end of August.
