A Wisconsin Rapids resident has received the $1,350 Thomas Meiers Memorial Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Matthew Stack, 3220 Sampson St., is a senior political science major at UWSP. He is a graduate of Lincoln High School.

The scholarship is awarded annually to upper-class veterans attending UWSP. It is given in memory of Tom Meiers who was a student at UWSP until his death in an automobile accident more than 30 years ago. The award was established by Meiers� parents and has received continued support from family members and a past recipient.
