Hunger Cleanup at UWSP

The Association for Community Tasks (A.C.T.) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will hold its 13th annual Hunger CleanUp on Saturday, April 15.

Hunger CleanUp raises money for hunger and homeless programs. Participants find people to sponsor their efforts and spend three hours at a community work project. Such projects include cleaning parks, washing school buses or painting community buildings.

Fifty percent of the funds raised in this year’s Hunger CleanUp will go to Operation Bootstrap of Portage County, which is run entirely by volunteers. Its purpose is to help people in need of food and emergency funds. The remaining funds will be split between national and international hunger and homeless programs.

Last year, 156 volunteers worked to raise $1,520. A.C.T.’s goals for this year include raising $2000 and recruiting 200 participants. For more information, contact Kara Hoglund at (715) 346-2260.
