Alumni donate 12 trees to UWSP
Chris Brindley (left) and UWSP alumnus Tom Girolamo planted a donated tree near the College of Natural Resources building with the help of student Matt Cantlon.

A local sustainable landscaping company owned by alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has donated 12 large trees to the campus.

Eco-Building and Forestry, LLC, owned by Tom Girolamo, a 1982 graduate of UWSP, and Kathy Clarke-Girolamo, a 1983 graduate, have donated trees to the campus in the past as well. The planting and placement of the trees was completed by Chris Brindley, UWSPs grounds supervisor and a 1994 alumnus.

"Chris is doing an excellent job of greening up the campus with very limited resources," said Tom Girolamo. "Not only does new vegetation enhance the look of the campus, but plantings are being done in a way that results in many other benefits to UWSP. Trees, shrubs and perennials installed by Chris and his crew are sustainable, natural and native and are helping reduce rain runoff, aid in water infiltration, cool parking lots and sidewalks and increase opportunities for students to study new plants. Kathy and I are pleased that we can help Chris and UWSP reach its goals for a truly inviting campus."

Eco-Building and Forestry, located near Lake DuBay north of Stevens Point, is a green building and sustainable landscape company that includes a plant nursery, fish farm, organic vegetables and chickens as well as an outdoor wood fired brick oven.
