An assistant concertmaster for the CSO since 1979, Taylor is known to Chicago audiences as a versatile soloist, chamber player and orchestral musician. A critic from the Chicago Tribune has praised him for his "well-focused tone, poised line, and aristocratic phrasing."

The performance is $11 for adults, $9 for senior citizens, $4 for youth and $3 for UWSP students with ID or free the day of the show. Tickets may be purchased at the University Box Office, located in the University Center, Room 103, between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. An adjunct faculty member at Northeastern Illinois University, Taylor also is a first violinist of the Pressenda Piano Trio and Chicago Ensemble and concertmaster of the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, the ArsViva Chamber Orchestra, and the Park Ridge Symphony. He gives recitals throughout the Chicagoland area and teaches students in orchestras across the United States and Japan.

A native of Canton, Ohio, Taylor first studied music at age four then attended the Cleveland Insitute of Music and the Julliard School, where he earned bachelors and masters degrees. He joined the Cleveland Orchestra in 1974 and has also been the acting concertmaster of the St.Louis Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
