LINES Ballet, an international touring company based in San Francisco, performs unique contemporary ballets created by renowned choreographer Alonzo King. Now marking 25 years as a company, LINES ballet continues to receive critical acclaim for Kings visionary choreography and the quality of its dancers. The company appears in San Francisco in the spring and fall, when its not touring the U.S. or internationally.
The New York Sun called the company "a troupe full of gorgeous, lithe dancers . . . Mr. King has a dazzling gift for inventive movement."
"The ten dancers add up to the slickest, sleekest, most alluring collection of movement virtuosos in this area," says San Francisco-based Web dance resource "Voice of Dance."
King founded LINES Ballet in 1982 and inaugurated the San Francisco Dance Center, one of the largest facilities on the West Coast. In 2001 he started the LINES Ballet School and Pre-professional Program, which has grown to include a joint bachelor of fine arts program with Dominican University of California. He has worked and taught with dance companies throughout the world and for opera, television and film.
