A Ceramics Lab course will be offered for three credits this summer through the Continuing Education program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Art 398/796, Ceramics Lab, will begin Friday, June 20, in the Noel Fine Arts Center at UWSP. Students will work independently, with critique meetings on Mondays from 1 – 3 p.m. and instructor consultation as arranged. The course may be taken through June 30 or through July 20, according to individual needs. Register by June 12 to take part in the group supply order. Individual supply fees will be based on the materials chosen.

The course will involve options in clay from wheel thrown forms to hand built images. Individuals will determine if the pursuit of the wheel and/or coil, slab or other hand built techniques will be the basis of the body of class work. Possibilities range from the functional ceramic ware to masks and large sculpted forms. No experience is required.

Instructor Susan Morrison has been a professor of art and design at UWSP since 1999. Featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the country, she has worked in an array of media including stage design, ceramics, painting and welded metal sculpture.
