Watercolor workshop offered at UWSP

A watercolor workshop will be offered for teens and adults at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point (UWSP) this month through the UWSP Continuing Education Arts and Culture Outreach program.

"Flowers: Your Inner Georgia O’Keeffe" will be held Saturday, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Noel Fine Arts Center at UWSP. Intended for beginner and intermediate levels, the workshop will cover transforming techniques to give paintings stunning compositions, heightened emotion and vibrant colors. Floral arrangements will be used and both traditional and experimental techniques will be covered as well as the history and background of various flower artists, with particular focus on O’Keeffe’s work.

The instructor is Sarah Moldenhauer, a recent UWSP graduate with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis on drawing and painting and a minor in biology. She has worked with Leaf-Wisconsin Center of Environmental Education illustrating teacher manuals and forest education tools, with Mead Wildlife Refuge to create a series of time-line murals and with various individuals to create commissioned works of art throughout the community.

The registration fee is $45. Space is limited for this class, so early registration is recommended.

To register or for more information, contact UWSP Continuing Education at (715) 346-3838 or (800) 898-9472 or visit the Web at www.uwsp.edu/conted/aco.
