MEDIA ADVISORY: Total lunar eclipse to occur on Wednesday evening

What: A total lunar eclipse will occur on Wednesday, February 20, as the full moon passes into the Earth’s shadow.

When: The times for the eclipse are as follows:

Moon enters the faint penumbral shadow - - 6:35 p.m.

Penumbral shadow first visible - - - -around 7:10 p.m.

Partial eclipse begins - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  7:43 p.m.

Total eclipse begins - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  9:00 p.m.

Mid - eclipse - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  9:26 p.m.

Total eclipse ends - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  9:52 p.m.

Partial eclipse ends - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 11:09 p.m.

Penumbral shadow last visible - - - around 11:45 p.m.

The next total lunar eclipse visible from central Wisconsin will occur December 20, 2010.
