Habitat for Humanity goes green

This energy
efficient home, at 2717 Minnesota Ave., Stevens Point, was built by
Central Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity.
A Portage County family will soon enjoy the benefits of "green"
living, thanks to the energy efficient home completed in the county
by Central Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity. The home, at 2717
Minnesota
Ave. in Stevens Point, will be dedicated this Friday, October 17,
in a noon ceremony hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point (UWSP) chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of
America (PRSSA).
This is the 19
th home built by Central Wisconsin Habitat
volunteers.
The three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath home features solar panels,
double-thickness insulated walls and ceilings, radiant floor heating
and a backup high-efficiency furnace.
Delta Dental, IBEW Local 388, and Duralum Carpets each made
significant
donations to the project. The installation of the solar-assisted hot
water and heating system was performed by Chet’s Pumbing and
Heating.
Central Wisconsin Habitat for Humanity built its first home in 1989
and continues to make a powerful impact on the community. Donations
are encouraged, as is information on families that might benefit, by
calling (715) 345-2726 or by visiting
centralwisconsinhabitat.org
on the Web.
UWSP's PRSSA chapter provides students the opportunity to learn
about
the public relations field through hands-on experiences, campaigns,
volunteer opportunities, field trips and professional conferences.
