UW Credit Union establishes UWSP
scholarship endowment
The UW Credit Union will initially fund a $10,000 endowment
at UWSP. If credit union members match this with another
$10,000 in donations, the credit union will match it for
another $10,000. The program is being offered at five UW
System universities in addition to UWSP.
“UW Credit Union has been a trusted financial partner for
thousands of University of Wisconsin students over the years,
and we know that our Wisconsin communities are strengthened when
we help keep the university financially accessible to academically
capable young people,” said UW Credit Union President and CEO
Paul Kundert. “We’re proud to be able to offer a dollar for
dollar match for all UW Credit Union members who make a pledge
to our scholarship fund starting in October through the end of
December 2008.” The UWSP Financial Aid Office will determine
who receives the scholarships, based on need.
Members of the UW Credit Union who would like to make a donation
toward the UW Credit Union Scholarship Fund may do so online at
uwcu.org or through one of the 14 local UW Credit Union branches.

“Many of us don't think about the rising cost of tuition unless
it's affecting us directly. Statistics show that from 2000 to 2005,
tuition has increased nearly 28 percent,” Kundert said. “We hope
that our members and our community will see that together, we can
provide the opportunity for anyone to succeed and graduate from
one of the top universities in the world.”
