The Twentieth Annual University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Horn Choir Festival has become the largest of its kind in Wisconsin and last year included over 60 horn players from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa. The day includes master classes, clinics, rehearsals and performances by horn players from middle school age to professionals. The main event of the festival will be a massed horn choir including all participants, conducted by Dr. Patrick Miles, Professor of Horn and Director of Orchestral Activities at UWSP. In addition to the massed choir, the afternoon concert will feature performances by the Onalaska Horn Ensemble, UWSP alums, UWSP students and the massed Festival Horn Choir.
The festival is designed to give encouragement and inspiration to players of an often neglected and frequently misunderstood instrument. Last year's festival was a tremendous success and we are hoping to duplicate or surpass that event. The fee for the event is $25 for individuals and includes the festival music, master class handout and a festival T-shirt. Registration monies can be paid a the time of registration. However, please send in the registration form in advance so that music can be sent ahead of time to those participating and T-shirts can be ordered. All events will occur in the Noel Fine Arts Center on the UWSP campus.
