The First Annual Yoga Wellness Conference will include workshops for new yoga learners, intermediate and seasoned practitioners, open to all levels of interest and experience. Learn all you can from over twenty expert teachers and experienced practitioners from all over the country. Unfurl your mat and join us in a vibrant and holistic environment of pursuing a peaceful mind and body. The event includes the Festival of India on October 10, featuring cuisine, entertainment and fun-fair activities for the whole family to enjoy!!

Yoga Wellness Presenters Include:

Acharya Hersh Khetarpal is the Founder/ Director of Yog Sadhan Ashram, www.yogsadhanashram.org, located in West Chicago, IL.  Yog Sadhan Ashram conducts over forty classes per week in Chicago area on the subject of Hatha Yoga, Meditation & Yogic Philosophy. These classes are absolutely free for the participants & are conducted by volunteers who have been fully trained at the Ashram.

Ms. Khetarpal was born & raised in a Yoga Ashram in Punjab, India. Her father, Satguru Chaman Lal Kapur Ji, who also is her spiritual Guru, is an accomplished Yogi. He has spent his entire life studying & researching the old Hindu scriptures & has been spreading the wisdom contained therein to the masses. Ms. Khetarpal received her Yoga training right at her own home.

Ms. Khetarpal is married & has three children. She has a Bachelors degree in accounting from ASU. She worked in the corporate world for over 15 years in various accounting positions & exited as a Controller from a Chicago area Company. Currently she is semi-retired. Following the footsteps of her father, she spends most of her time studying books on   religion & philosophy and teaching Yoga, Meditation & Spirituality. She is a motivational speaker & is spreading the message of universal brotherhood and oneness of all human beings through the medium of her spiritual discourses.

Dr. Sudeep Sodhi is a Gastroentologist Physician from Appleton.  He is currently doing a fellowship in Integrative Medicine with the well-known and highly respected Dr. Andrew Weil.

Josiah Groth has taught, consulted, and practiced yoga in various locations across the country, including Madison, Manhattan, and at the Himalayan Institute's main campus in Honesdale, PA where he studied and lived for 3 years.  Combining a passion for helping people with years of experience as a bodyworker has led to the opening of a wellness center, Back To Bliss, which Josiah co-owns with his wife, Monica.  His practices currently focus on blending yoga, massage, ayurveda, and homeopathics to create a powerfully supportive wellness lifestyle for his students and community.   Currently based in Colby, WI, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two tiny yoginis.  You can contact him at josiah@backtoblisswellness.com

Dr. Jayshree Chander is a Family Practitioner physician in San Francisco, Calif., currently pursuing a fellowship in Environmental and Labor Medicine at the University of California San Francisco.  She is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor, a certified ashiatsu massage therapist, a tabla (Indian percussion) musician, Kathak dancer and avid Vipassana meditator.

Karla Rothmann is one of the main coordinators of the Yoga Wellness Conference.  She has been teaching assorted yoga classes at the Stevens Point Area YMCA for 2+ years.  Her certification comes through NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association).  She continues to be an avid student of yoga.

Marisha Platner is a part of Blooming Lotus: A Center for Health and Healing, has been teaching yoga since 1997, and received her teacher certification in Ananda Yoga in 2004.  She has been influenced by many teachers from a variety of traditions including Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kripalu and Viniyoga.

Her style of teaching incorporates gentle, clear guidance while encouraging students to listen to their own inner wisdom.   Marisha draws from thirty years as a practitioner of yoga and is very attuned to adapting classes to meet the specific needs of the students.  Yoga classes she has offered include Prenatal, Meditation & Gentle.  Marisha is a Certified Massage Therapist and Reiki practitioner with a practice in Stevens Point and Wausau. She has been a practitioner of the healing arts since 1989.

Maureen Houlihan, owner of Gentle Spirit Yoga in Stevens Point, WI,  is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, member of the Registered Yoga Teachers Alliance, Certified Infant Massage Instructor and Reiki Master.  She has a Master's degree in Education with specialization in Early Childhood-Exceptional Educational Needs.  Maureen teaches regular and specialty yoga classes, including Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for Performers, Chair Yoga for Seniors, and Yoga for Depression and Grief.  She also teaches courses in Stress Management, Meditation and Yoga at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  Her teaching exemplifies knowledge, experience and love.

Rob Schultz began practicing Yoga over fifteen years ago to alleviate chronic back pain and now is owner of Point Yoga Studio in Stevens Point, Wis.  Thanks to Yoga, meditation, and other self-healing modalities, including Tai Chi and Chi Gong, he no longer suffers from chronic pain.  His personal approach to Yoga has evolved from one of physical self-care into a continuous journey of Self-discovery. Rob believes that anyone that can breathe can do Yoga. He teaches Hatha Yoga in the Kripalu tradition which includes a strong emphasis on compassionate self acceptance, proper breathing, and body awareness.

In 2003, Rob was trained in Traditional Japanese Reiki, Usui Reiki Ryoho and he holds the first and second degrees in this healing tradition. In 2004, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy with an emphasis in Religious Studies. In 2008 he completed the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program at the Kripalu Institute in Lenox, MA

Digant Dash is an ongoing Yoga Instructor of highly popular Yoga Workshops at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL.  He is well versed in Vedic Mathematics, Science of Yoga, in addition to the yogic postures

Dr. Arthur Herman, emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Herman retired from the faculty in 1997 and has authored 14 books on Indian philosophy.

Susan Twiggs holds a 200-hour certification from the Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training in Lenox, Massachusetts. She returns yearly to Kripalu for advanced training in teaching breathwork and postures. She has taken workshops on Tibetan and mindfulness meditation. Susan has had a daily yoga practice for the past 10 years attending weekly classes with Jenifer Ebel at The Yoga Studio for 8 years. She is a trained mediator and social worker and practiced outpatient psychotherapy for 20 years. She is also a published poet. She is the owner of The Karuna Yoga Studio and teaches yoga.

Pat Reckrey is the author of numerous published poetry books.  In her lifetime, she has been a Catholic nun of 15 years and a School Counselor and Teacher, and mother of adopted children with disabilities in addition to two natural born children.  Recently she went on an excursion to visit India and has witnessed SHAMA, Inc. programs first hand.  She generously donated the first village house, built for a woman who slept with the goats and who never had her own house.  One of Reckrey’s many meditations includes hand-spinning as Gandhi had done all his life

Marguerite Ramlow, Artha Sustainable Living Center mramlow@arthaonline.com Marguerite is co-owner of Artha Sustainable Living Center LLC and Artha Yoga Studios.  She has been studying yoga for over 30 years and began teaching in 1999.  She offers yoga classes, workshops and retreats.  Marguerite has been an avid gardener and herbalist for over 25 years. She has been a speaker and keynote speaker for various events, speaking on yoga, the art of breathing, living in harmony, sustainable living, herbs and their many uses, gardening and harvesting. Marguerite is a practitioner and educator on the art of walking lightly on the earth. She is a founding member of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, and served as the organizations financial officer for more than 6 years.
