Eligibility
You are eligible to apply for the English for College program if:
- You are eligible to receive free or reduced hot
lunch
(This also makes you eligible to receive a DPI scholarship) - You will be entering the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the fall of 2011
- You are learning English as a Second Language
- You know enough English to understand the English spoken in class
- You have lived in the US for at least one academic year
- You will be under the age of 18 when the program ends
Application
To apply for the English for College program submit a sample of your writing, a copy of your most recent grades, and complete the following forms:
- DPI Precollege Scholarship Application
- DPI Precollege Scholarship Application (Spanish version)
- UWSP English for College Application
- English for College Rules
You may download and print these forms, but the completed forms must be returned to us as hard copies with original signatures. Students should deliver these forms to a teacher, counselor, principal, or WEOP staff member who should complete the application forms and send them with other application materials to:

If you plan to use your own private source of funding, follow the same procedures as shown above except do not complete the DPI Precollege Scholarship Application. Instead you should send a letter stating that you will pay the price of $2229 by May 30, 2011, if you are accepted into the program. Price is subject to change.
By applying, English for College participants give UWSP permission to track their academic progress for up to seven years. This will help us to evaluate the effectiveness of our program.
