Educational Mission
This four-week program is designed specifically for students who are learning English as a second language. Classes meet Monday through Friday (morning and afternoon) and include intensive work in the areas of reading, speaking, hearing and writing English. No UWSP credits are involved in this program.
Its goal is to help students acquire English language skills, learn about career choices, and increase their desire to graduate from high school and to enter post secondary education.
The support of parents, teachers and counselors is important, so we reach out to these adults and respond to their concerns.
Fun While Learning
- Learn about university programs and services.
- Learn about possible careers and what classes you should take in high school to prepare for majors in different career areas.
- Take interesting class trips and fun weekend trips in Central Wisconsin.
- Use UWSP's student computer labs.
- Help create a literary magazine as a classroom project.
- Participate in leisure activities such as soccer, camping, canoeing, and attending a baseball game.
- Make new friends from around the state. They may come from many different cultures, so you can learn about other cultures from your classmates.
- Take part in a graduation ceremony and talent show.
Room & Meals
Our students live and eat right on campus, just like college students. This makes it easy to walk to classes and other campus activities. Each student has a roommate who is also in the English for College program, so they will make new friends with a similar schedule.
The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point is located in a small, safe community of about 25,000 residents. The campus is large enough to offer many educational activities and enjoyable events, yet small enough to make even new students feel comfortable very quickly.
Program Costs & Scholarships
