Brief Background Information - Dr. Kathe Julin Dr. Kathe Julin has been a Professor with the University of Wisconsin System since 1989, and began her teaching career in 1980 starting at North Dakota State University, and continuing at Northern Illinois University and University of Wisconsin-Madison. For nine years, she was the Associate Dean and Division Head for the UWSP Division of Interior Architecture. She has led student trips overseas to Europe for over 25 years starting in 1985 in the study of Art, Architecture and Design. As a design professional in the field, Dr. Julin has worked in New York City in residential, loft and office design, North Carolina in retail design, and Wisconsin and Illinois in residential and commercial design. Starting as a member of NSID (now ASID) in 1979 and IBD in 1983, she continued as a professional member of IIDA until recently, moving over to current memberships in professional art/design organizations of Design Communication Association (DCA), College Art Association (CAA), and Society of Architectural Historians (SAH). Dr. Julin continues to be a corporate member of Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) and has served as an accreditation team chair/member for the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) for over 15 years since 1996. Current study/work is on Drawing and Watercolor sketching, Architectural History, Foundation Design/Art Theory, and First-Year Student Experience in college (development, motivation and retention).
