Specialty:  Medieval religion and philosophy, with special interests in late medieval theology and ethics, ancient through early modern history and thought, with an emphasis on religious communities

Research interests: Late medieval religious history and philosophy; 14th century debates on the nature of theology; ethics and the history of individualism and self-interest.

Teaching interests: World, medieval, and European history, especially the history of world religious communities and religious authority, and the development of political ideology and ethics
