INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE
UWSP is honored to recognize Mike Pagel as the UWSP 2011
Regent's Individual Excellence Award nominee. The Academic Staff
Regents Awards for Individual Excellence recognize two outstanding
academic staff members from the UW System with a $5,000 monetary
award.
The following criteria are utilized in selecting recipients:
- Excellence of Performance
- Personal Interaction
- Initiative & Creativity
- Outstanding Achievement
Mike Pagel of Career Services and New Student Orientation has been selected
as the 2011 UWSP Academic Staff nominee for this award. Mike
has served UWSP for over 30 years as a career counselor and also as
Director of New Student Orientation.
His commitment to excellence is described by his nominators:
- "His leadership and judgement is highly respected by his
peers and others within the University leadership"
- "[Mike] is an individual who contributes greatly to the
strength of UWSP."
- Mike approaches his work with a level of energy, enthusiasm,
and committment that far exceeds the norm."
- "His positive attitude and outgoing personality have
contributed significantly to the success of the career services
programs he administers."
- "Mike is a skilled presenter who has a knack for delivering
important information with honesty, credibility and humor.
His colleagues have noted that he is an interesting, articulate
and enteraining speaker who imparts information in a way that
engages his audience."
- Regarding New Student Orientation, "One parent wrote a
letter to say that they wish they could bottle Mike's
presentation to share with the rest of the UW-System."
- "Mike Pagel is an outstanding leader and advocate for
students, faculty and staff, [the Career Services] unit, the
University and the UW-System."
