The UWSP Academic Staff Excellence Award recognizes an academic staff member (Category A or C) for their contributions made in their unit, department, and/or university. Any or all of the following should be considered when making the nomination: excellence in performance, personal interaction, initiative and creativity, and outstanding achievement.
The 2011 recipient of the Excellence Award is Julie Schneider. Julie has served the University in the Academic Advising Center for the past 15 years and 18 years overall. Her commitment to excellence is described by her nominators:

Students and colleagues describe Julie as: "knowledgeable, caring, thoughtful, enthusiastic, thorough, and reliable."
"She is noted for her integrity, her strong sense of fairness and equity, effective communication skills, attention to detail, and unfailing follow-through."
A quote by one of Julie's colleagues sums up her committment to excellence, "I wish every advisor cared for their students' well-being as much as Julie."
