3-D Tab FunctionsThe 3-D tab is useful for full-terrain portrayals rather than merely route profiles, but does not provide vector or slope measurements (the routes do show, however). It is most useful in SAR for considering alternative routes to a destination. An extremely nice feature is that the pitch and rotation controls allow vantage point options, and even enable views "around corners" or on the obscured terrain beyond large hills. Unfortunately Stevens Point is pretty flat, so even at maximum vertical exaggeration the example below does not seem impressive. Try this tab function around real hills, however, and its utility becomes readily apparent.
