LIFE IN THE ORDOVICIAN

Life in the Early Ordovician was good! Warm, sunlit continental platforms existed along the Equator and into the Southern Hemisphere. The number of invertebrate families increased from ~200 in the Cambrian to ~500 in the Early to Middle Ordovician. Bryozoans, Brachiopods, Trilobites and Graptolites flourished. Corals, Cnidera, Porifera, Molluscs and other phyla thrived as well, although impending doom loomed in the Late Ordovician!
