Warm Front

Typical profile of a warm front

A warm front is located where a warm air mass is replacing a cold air mass. Warm fronts possess a gentle slope to their frontal surface. Stratus-type clouds are typically found along a warm front. Precipitation along a warm front is usually light but long in duration. (See also: cold front)
