Woodland Leadership Institute - Application and Candidate Selection Process
Applicants to the Wisconsin Woodland Leadership Institute must
be residents of Wisconsin and should be able to demonstrate
their leadership abilities and desire to make a significant
future contribution in a leadership role.
Applicants are sought through nominations from DNR, Extension,
woodland owners organizations, and other partners. However,
individuals that are interested can contact the program manager
directly to receive an application package.
Candidate application are reviewed by the Woodland Leadership
Institute's Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee evaluates
each application based on the following criteria.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated Leadership Potential
Applicants must have some experience in leadership activities
and have an interest in using what they learn through the
Institute in their community.
Breadth of Perspective on Issues and Knowledge of
Forestry in Wisconsin
Applicants should demonstrate a concern for a broad scope of
issues of importance to Wisconsin’s forest lands as well as an
interest in forest management and be active in managing
woodland.
Potential to be a Productive Participant
Each candidate should be prepared to view issues from new
perspectives and be prepared to contribute to and benefit from
seminars and other program activities.
Commitment to Participate
The applicant must be fully committed to participate in all of
the seminars.
Cost
Participants must contribute $200 toward the expenses of the
Institute. An additional $600 is provided by grants to meet the
total expenses of $800 per participant for lodging, meals and
instructional materials.
